Work vs study. Single mother

I have a job that I love, but a horrible bully of a boss. I have raised issues with her, than the ceo when nothing was done... Still nothing has changed. We are a small team who work in healthcare and are in the public eye. Nearly all of us put up with her bullying because her father happens to be one of our bosses.

I raised my concerns with the ceo, and not her father after I got so upset I walked out. That was around 6 months ago and still put up with the same stuff. We all do, and I'm not the only one who has complained.

But my real question is, for years I've been wanting to study nursing, that is ultimately what I want to do. I'm a single parent with 2 children at primary school. I'm am so scared of studying, don't think I'd be able to do it external after work. There's too much distraction. Has anyone just decided enough is enough and quit so they could follow their dream? I'm only holding off because I don't want to let my private health insurance go. And I'm super scared to take that step. I no it's only time before I snap at work, I want to leave on my terms not because of my boss.

The study part itself is doable. It's surviving on a drastically reduced income that's a struggle! Sometimes there is no choice but to work at least part time.

Hey there, as I read your question for a minute I thought I had posted it. I to am a single mum of one with ASD and ADHD. My biggest passion is to become a nurse. There are options I've researched and have thought long and hard about option 1. Study enrolled nursing at tafe which is 18 months and equivalent to one year at uni....get a part time job in a hospital or Dr's surgery option 2. Enrol at uni and after one year of study apply to be an Assistant in Nursing at a hospital or aged care facility. I'm going with option 1 and will be enrolling to start in October. Good luck with it. I'm so excited to be starting a new endeavour and being more available to my son. Yea the $$$ will be tight but not forever.

I've looked at all that as well. ? great minds think a like. Are you going to do any paid work?? It would be nice to not rush after work and actually have more time helping my kids with homework, or going to sports day etc. I am thinking of the Ain course first, ease myself in and make sure that it is right for me. Good luck with your studies!

I'm planning to work. Im currently working full time in a totally different field. I'm hoping to get a job part time in a GP or Aged Care and study. I have quite a few friends that are nurses and have been super supportive too.
