why?

Today I answered on a question; an honest answer, not rude or disrespectful a normal answer. But there where a couple of ladies that seemed to feel the need to reply on my answer in a not so nice way!
I wasn't in need of an answer, this lovely IM was! I teach my kids this motto:

if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all!

I will think twice on giving advice!
