I do not wish to sign up with Weightwatchers as I cannot afford it and I would prefer to do it on my own. I am still interested in getting to understand the points system they use and start using their meals. What do others have to say about Weightwatchers and is it something that can just be done well alone without actually signing up, etc? Many thanks!

Why don't you get a referral from your GP for a dietician, you can get so many free (covered by medicare) appointments a year. That way its a program designed by you and they can help you incorporate prepared meals into your diet.
You can access WW blogs and forums for free. DON'T buy their food - you don't need to - the PP system is designed to teach you how to live using all the normal groceries at the supermarket including takeaway and restaurant meals. That's why it works. The other poster mentioned a referral from the GP - if you have private health cover extras you can get your WW meetings for free through the GP :)
PS Lost 20kg with WW 10 years ago - still at goal and still use the on-line support. You can do it too! :)
