For mummas that have had water births, what did you think of it? When did you enter the water? Did your partner go in too or stay at the side? Any hints and tips for deciding

I had planned a water birth but when I was in the bath I nearly passed out so they pulled me up onto the bed.
I had been in the shower for about 10 hours they said that could have caused it cos i might have just been to dehydrated and finally getting in a big warm bath tipped me over.
not definite thats what caused it but just be aware of that :)
good luck xxx
I had a water birth for my daughter just over a year ago. It was the best decision I made for my labour and birth. My labour was 4 hours 20 minutes, i was at home for about an hour of that. When I rang the hospital that night I requested the room with the spa. When I got into the birthing suite, they first had me on the bed just to do my obs and check where I was at. then i asked if i could get in the bath and i was allowed to. (I hadn't planned to give birth in there till i actually got in and asked if i could).
The water birth was the most amazing thing ever. on each contraction i would turn the hot tap on and the water would heat up my back (it also made for a great distraction during them). I believe being in the water helped soften everything down there etc. My husband was on the outside of the bath kneeling as was my mum and 2 sisters. was the most amazing experience!
I totally recommend it, at least give it a go and see how you feel at the time.
Good luck to you for an amazing labour and birth - no matter which method you choose!
I spent a good portion of my labour in the water with my husband and mum offering support from the side. I didn't have a birth plan more of a take it as it comes kind of attitude. For me personally as much as it was lovely and relaxing (obviously the pain was still there) it slowed my contractions down. The moment I hopped out of the bath and started walking around my contractions picked right back up again and bub was born within a couple of hours. Next labour I am going to try and be a little more active and see if that helps with the time of my labour! (I did use the shower a lot too which was awesome).
