VBAC

Was just wondering about successful VBAC? I seen a midwife today for the first time at 13 weeks and she was very negative and kept saying I should just do another c section and to just book it with the doctor when I see him next. Every time I mentioned VBAC she kept turning very negative on me about it :(
What's the success rate like? How did you get around the doctors ect to get a chance at least?

Honestly it depends on why you needed a c-section the first time. What your medical situation is etc.
You may just have had a negative Nancy so discuss with doctor so they can give you a clearer picture.

Wow, where are you? I have several friends in Melbourne who had c sec. They were strongly encouraged to try a Vbac. All went well. May depend on the reason for your c sec?

Its quite surprising that a midwife would be encouraging that, I think it would depend on the reasons for your first c section. Maybe just ask another midwife or doctor at your next appointment and get them to specifically explain why

It was emergency c section because of low baby heart rate. At Dandenong in Melbourne. She was so negative. I was undecided how I wanted to go about this all but all the stuff she said just made me feel like I don't have a choice. ?
I have hospital doctor in 2 weeks then my ob the week after so hopefully they're some what more positive and encouraging.

Well today is my due date and I'm hopefully going to have a vbac. I have seen 4 different people (Inc my gp) and only 2 of them have taken me seriously as to just how much I am willing to fight against a c/s (my last wasn't necessary just a lazy doc). One was in different and the other thought I was being really dismissive.

Definitely try with someone else and make a plan, like I will agree to c/s in the case of ... etc so they can see that you are reasonable.

Good luck and remember, it's your baby and your body, take control (something I wish I had known last time)

My first was an emergency csection. I attempted a vbac for our second but things didnt go to plan. My advise make sure your get the all clear by your drs that it will be safe for the baby to try vbac and secondly be open to change even tho you may want a vbac very much alot of times things change and its safer for the baby to move to a csection. At the end of the day all you really want is a healthy baby and mum.

Well no luck for us but we tried all we could, the doctor and midwife where very supportive. Unfortunately we didn't progress quick enough and at the last minute bub turned his head the wrong way making it even harder. Even though I wasn't successful I know I at least got to try and I am satisfied with that. Good luck mumma xx

change your midwife, if she cant support you know she will be on no use to you when your in labor. you need to find someone who is going to listen to what you want and respect that and give you all the necessary information you need to make an educated decision.
