Hi ladies.
I have a touchy subject for women to ask about I have just been diagnosed with secondary vaginismus caused from an epistomy during the birth of my beautiful daughter 5 months ago.
I just want to ask has anyone tried acupuncture and herbal medicines along with conventional options? Did they help.
Painful sex caused by vaginismus apparently affects 2% of Australian women but we are too embarrassed to talk about painful sex.
So I wanted to ask the question if not for myself but for other women too embarrassed to ask.

I had this after the birth of my 1st child. . I had extensive tearing aswell as an episiotomy and even a pap was like torture. . I left it so long 12 months infact due to shame but found using a lot of lube helped to get things going when I finally built the courage to give things another try
I was diagnosed with vaginismus and vulvodynia in my early 20's, just want to let you know there is light at the end of the tunnel. I found physiotherapy very helpful. Along with gabapentin which is used to treat epilepsy ect (prescription only) Also if u can see a gyno and physio at a public hospital it should keep the cost of treatment down. Best of luck mumma xxx
I had this after the birth of my son. I had second degree tears but my partner worked away for four weeks at a time and this all contributed. I left it until my son was 8 months old until I finally did something about it. With some physio, the recommendation of purchasing a small dildo from my GP and a lot of lube all is now well! Don't give up hope :-)
