Hi ladies, was hoping to hear from anyone out there who had traumatic births/episiotomy and either went back for no3 vaginally or opted for a C section.
Bit of background, my first involved an episiotomy with failed vacuum followed by forceps delivery after 36 hour labour. I could hardly walk for days afterwards, it was at least 6weeks before I could sit down with any degree of comfort, couldn't drive for about 3-4 weeks and it took two years before sex was no longer painful and uncomfortable (Spoke to maternal health nurse and GP was basically told this is normal and to suck it up). Went vaginal again for baby number two, was all very fast, ended up with tearing again, stitches inside and out. Recovery was much better, but still very unpleasant. Now pregnant with number three, the pain in my episiotomy/previous tearing scar is getting pretty bad (25weeks) Given the history I have been given the option of an elective CSection if I want it.
I'm not scared of labor or child birth, it is the recovery and long term effects on my body afterwards that are concerning me.
Yes I understand the why have a guaranteed injury when I may walk away without anything, but what if I walk away with worse, which seems to be the path my body prefers. Basically would love to hear from anyone that has opted for a CSection after such an experience and how it went, and likewise anyone that has gone natural after such experiences and how it worked out. Thank you.

I had a really massive episiotomy. I carried a rubber ring around for almost 6 weeks. Still when I go for my Pap smear the GP comments on my scarring (22 years on!). I would strongly be leaning towards the c-section especially as doctors have offered it.
Hi
I completely understand where you are coming from. My first son was born via a vaginal birth and there were complications, son got stuck they used forceps and broke his collar bone. I also had a 3rd degree tear basically I tore right to my bottom resulting in stitches all the way to my bottom. He was 9 pound 7. I was recommended to next time have a csection which I did and I was glad I did no 2 was only small though 6 pounds. No 3 they recommended a Vbac which I did but I was not successful and had emergency csection. No 4 I had a csection. After my first child I have never had any issues with my scar where I tore so I'm very fortunate. If you have pain and tenderness where you tore I personally would have a csection. I'm very glad I had a csection it was the best decision for me. I recovered well and the scar from the c section doesn't bother me at all. It is your body and you are important too.
I had a traumatic first birth ( vaginal) which took me ages to recover from.
I could of had a vaginal next time around ( I was mismanaged with my first birth due to an incompetent doctor)
My second I elected for a c section. To me it was a calm, healing experience. I recovered really quickly and barely needed pain meds.
