Hi I.M's
I went to the Dr's a couple of weeks ago for what i thought was an umbilical hernia. My last pregnancy 8 months ago took its toll on my body so it all made sense. I had been suffering from stomach pain which felt like i had been doing 1000 stomach crunches during my sleep along with a sore lump behind my belly button. The Dr said it was more than likely an umbilical hernia but wanted confirmation by ultrasound. Well the ultrasound didn't find a hernia, but something else called a 'Urachal' remnant. Basically, when your still a fetus, a tube like vessell connects to your bladder from your belly button and that is how urine is disposed off until you reach about 12 weeks. After this its supposed to turn into a ligament as there is no use for it after all your organs form properly. So, apparently mine never turned into a ligament and has remained open. There is very little info about it as its so rare. So far i have found the only problems this 'urachus' can cause is an abcess or cancer. I've been referred onto a surgeon and I'm still waiting to see him/her, and googling has turned me into an anxious mess. I'm just wondering if anyone else out there has/had the same thing or any info about it. Thankyou xx

I can't help you but please stay AWAY from google!!! It does doctors heads in.
This is my question. The only reason i googled was because i had no idea what it was. When i went for my follow up appointment, my Dr googled it too as he also had no idea what it was. Which is why I'm asking on here, I'm really hoping someone else can help me out with experience's or info.
