Update on PPL qn.

Hi everyone I asked the qn about paid parental leave last week. Thanks for the info it was very helpful. Least I know now to do it online, upload app to take pic of proof of birth & do claim 3 mths prior.

Anyway went to work this week and asked my employer if they are registered etc which they are as they have paid it to two other girls (small family owned business) anyway the boss said she just paid the two other girls what they worked at the time 1-2 days a week. But the way I read it online I should be entitled to the full $600 a week minimum wage for 18 weeks.
I've worked casual but 2.5 days a week since my son was 6 mths old he is now three and I've taken no holidays.
I was confused so just left it but now I'm worrying they will try rip me off and not pay me the full
Payment centrelink give them?

I'm not planing on going back to work there after I have bub as Thats another story but also the fact that putting my two kids in daycare would be more expensive then the wage I would earn, so should I just opt to get centrelink to pay me my paid parental leave not my current employer?

Ps I will go back to work just when the kids are older and will look for a different job ;)

Thanks hope you can help. X

Contact Centrelink and double check. I believe that's the case (that you get the full $600pw) and if so, your employer needs to be reported - if indeed they underpaid these other girls.

Given the fact you won't be returning to work I would choose to have the money paid directly from Centrelink :)

Centre link determines how much you receive and your boss must pass the full payment on minus tax

Centrelink pays you the minimun anyways.. What an employer pays goes on top of it. Like if you earn $700pw, centrelink will give you 600 and rest 100 is upto the employer if they want to pay or not. If you earn 500, you can get 600 from centrelink and another 500 from employer which is upto them.

I think thats only if the employer offers maternity leave?
In this case they don't im only getting what centrelink payment I'm entitled to..
