Type 2 diabetes and pregnancy

Hi, I'm not really sure if I am asking a question or really just venting. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at age 18, I was a little overweight (75 kg when my ideal weight is 60-70kg) but not overly unhealthy so it was a shock to me and my drs, and still is. At 21 I became pregnant so was referred to king Edward hospital as diabetic pregnancies are considered high risk. I was 63kg at the time so I was healthy and my diabetes was controlled. I had a good pregnancy with regular monitoring and started on insulin at around 16 weeks. I continued on that for my entire pregnancy, and doctors adjusted it when needed. Towards the end of my pregnancy I developed high blood pressure and was hospitalised and induced at 38 weeks. I had a very complicated birth which resulted in a stressed baby and emergency forceps delivery and manual placental removal. All of which traumatised me quite a bit. I am now 24 and 14 weeks pregnant, (and 62 kg) and have just gotten a letter saying that my referral for king Edward has been rejected because my pregnancy isn't high risk and I have to give birth at my local hospital (which is not very equipped for emergencies). I am shocked, confused and upset. How is this different to my first pregnancy? I have the same health issues? I am now petrified that things are going to go wrong and I am not going to be monitored as closely. Do I have any options? Or what should I do. I am currently writing this in tears

I feel for you as I also had a very stressful first birth experience, I do t have diabetes but I got preeclampsia and same as u had forceps delivery and my baby girl was very distressed when born. So like u when I got pregnant with my second I stressed heaps that it could happen again but you should try relax and if you have a good Dr they will be straight onto any issues and transfer your care to King Eddies if needed. As I found one pregnancy can be completely different to the next. Wishing you all the best for your pregnancy and birth

If at 19 week scan and bubs is measuring on the bigger side talk to your doctor about pushing again for king eddys and just keep track of your sugar levels and maybe with that new information they will accept you. I had my bubs there 4months ago under the diabitic clinic as I'm type 2 and they told me next baby I'll have to be under them again as more than likely I'll have to be on insulin again I started on insulin at 9weeks pregnant with last bubs
