Tubal reversal vs Ivf ?

Tubal reversal vs Ivf - I had my tubes tied a few years ago after much pressure from my ex to have it done but now I am with a loving man and we would like a child of our own only question is which way should we go have a tubal reversal or ivf?

Can you have ivf without getting your tubes undone? Or do you have to get them 'untied' and then do ivf? Sorry for the questions, I just have no idea & find it quite interesting ?

You can have IVF with out having your tubes untied. They extract the eggs from the ovaries, mix it with the sperm and then implant in the uterus. Or something to that effect.

For different medical reasons, I will be undergoing ivf in the next year. I am not an expert but to the previous poster, in ivf eggs are retrieved directly from the ovaries so tubes do not need to be functioning as eggs are retrieved before they travel down the tubes.

To the OP, I would be seeing a fertility specialist at an ivf clinic to discuss your chances of success at both ivf and tubal reversal. Your chances of success are not the same as anyone else so please see a professional with all the facts of your specific situation rather than just taking someone else's experience as gospel.

You haven't mentioned your age which is important as to whether you have time on your side to have the surgery, have it be successful and then attempt to conceive naturally. If you are late thirties your fertility is already declining and you may not have time to try tubal reversal and then end up in ivf anyway with 40 year old eggs (not saying that 40 is old but that it significantly impacts your fertility and quality of eggs).

Other things to be aware of and that you haven't mentioned is: you and your partners weight/general health, medications/medical conditions, your financial constraints (ivf is not cheap), etc.
