Trying to conceive for baby number 2

Hi IM's

My little one recently turned 3 this month, I've always wanted to have another baby and ideally with the 3-4 year age gap.
I have been actively trying to conceive for the past 12 months and have not been blessed just yet with the little bundle of joy we are so desperate hoping for.

I am 25 years old and have always had irregular cycles even before the birth of my first child. I stopped taking the pill in July last year and my cycles since then are sometimes 30 days to 50 days (each monthly cycle is different)
I am healthy, do not smoke and hardly drink alcohol. Hubby is also the same.
I have tried charting to work out when I ovulate but at times can be difficult to work out since each monthly cycle is different.

My heart breaks every month when I see a negative pregnancy test and see baby bumps everywhere I go. Are there any mums that have conceived naturally with lengthy cycles? How long would you wait to see a specialist?

I have tried the 'try not to think about it too much' approach but I always find myself thinking about it as there is nothing more I want in this world to fall pregnant and add to my little family.

I think if you don't know the cause of your irregular cycles then it's worth speaking to your GP sooner rather than later. You may not be ovulating and there are things that can help increase your chances.

I have irregular cycles as well and i tried the ovulation tests every month (you get them from chemist wearhouse they look like pregnancy tests and turn pink the days you ovulate and shows the darkest the day you are most furtile) I used them to get pregnant with my son and it worked on the 2nd month and 4th packet of tests but it did take me a while to get the hang of whats the right colour was on the test and when if i should have "naughty time" but dating them and testing every few days did help me a lot, good luck mumma hope you have your bundle of joy soon x

Get a "maybe baby," ovulation tester from the chemist. It's about $80 and tests your spit as many times as you want to see if you are ovulating. I am trying, and the "maybe baby" makes it easier. Good luck.

Yep i was exactly the same. Periods all over the place 3 - 8 weeks apart. Have a 3 1/2yr old n 8 week old. Tried for 2 1/2 yrs for the second with no luck until realising i was still breastfeeding and thats what was stopping me. Gave up feeding and got pregnant 8 weeks later with periods 3 weeks apart. So if breastfeeding stop. If not id see your gp. Mine always told me with the second they'll start looking into it after 12 months. Its only with the first they make you wait 2 years before looking into it

This gives me hope :) thank you!
Thankfully I've stopped breast feeding 2 years ago so will remember this for when wanna try for our third baby.

We've just hit the 13 month mark of actively trying so will book in with my GP to get checked out :)

I could have written this myself.. It took 12 months with our first and we are getting into 2.5 years trying for our second.
I had irregular cycles but wasn't diagnosed with PCOS. I have been seeing the fertility clinic in Perth and had every test done and I'm fine- tubes aren't blocked all bloods have come back fine and normal and I'm ovulating on my own. My partner sperm count is in its millions so quite good for his age.
I noticed when I started doing shakes, healthy eating and exercising my cycles regulated on 31 day cycle and this making it easy to track using blood tests but still nothing.
I have stopped shakes and noticed now have my periods but it's different for everyone. It's so disheartening when friends around me are falling and here I am trying and failing every month it's hard but I have finally put it past me and just going on with life hoping it'll happen when it's meant to be
