What age did you transfer your toddlers from their cot to a toddler bed/normal bed? We tried our 17 month old in toddler bed the other night and he went to sleep fine but woke at 4.30 and roaming the house and came into our room (he can reach the handle to get his door open) but hated it the next day for his day sleep and kept screaming and coming out. Yet at kindy he stays on his bed fine and sleeps great.
With my stepson my husband just waited until he was 2 and put him straight to single bed with no dramas. He thinks being abit older he understood more.
Should i wait until he is abit older and try again or keep persisting? Im going back to work soon too so worry about being up all night. I know that may sound selfish but just trying to think of the best scenario for our busy family lifestyle. Would he understand it better if i waited abit longer?

Some kids you just have to persevere no matter what the age! My niece was 3, loved it the first night then was a cheeky monkey for a few weeks until she realised mum and dad were not playing games. My son was 11 months because keeping him in a cot was impossible. He was such a climber and so the bed was actually safer. Each child is different. If he can do it at kindy he can do it at home, just needs the expectation set.
Thank gosh im not the only one putting my son in his own bed at 11 months.
