transitioning to toddler bed or not

Hi I have just had surgery as a result of child birth. I have an almost two year old who is mostly independent he can climb up in and out his car seats, he understands I can't lift him and will go to the couch for cuddles. I am very lucky to be able to stay with my parents but really want to get back to normal. I still have 6 weeks to go till I can lift him and the only thing stopping me going home is the cot. Do I suck it up and stay with my parents. Or do I consider transitioning my son to a toddler bed (something I hadn't panned to do for at least another year) I would love some advice. Thank you

I put all my kids into a single bed at 2 yrs old. We bought a bed and sheets for their bday and got them all excited about it. I also bought a frame to go in the side of the bed so they couldn't roll out. They coped wonderfully

My son went in a single bed before his first birthday, only because he had already worked out how to climb over it!

transition to a toddler bed. we did a lot earlier and for us it was the best decision she actually sleeps better in it. and gets herself up from naps and mornings. if she wakes in the night its not a crying wake she just walks to out bed for a cuddle or drink.
i changed her just after her first birthday
