My dd will be four in a few weeks, and for the last 4 or so months has been sleeping 4-5 hours of a day, like all at once. Will go to sleep at 12 and wake up at dinner time, then goes to bed at 8pm and wakes at 7 am. I feel like this is not normal behaviour for a four year old that is starting school next year. Should I be concerned? Don't want to go to docs just for them to send me away saying she's a growing girl she is fine.

Wow!!! if only my little one slept that well! Im not a sleep expert by any means but i think if ur bub is sleeping like that during the day and still managing to get a decent sleep at night time, just leave it. She still has a while yet until she is at school and hopefully her sleeping will fix itself over that time? Maybe if she is a really active child, she probably needs all the rest she can get. Is she losing an weight or not eating properly? that might be the cause of all the sleep due to not enough energy and lethargy?? but she is a healthy 4 year old then personally, i would just leave her to sleep. As u probably already know, with kids, things change as quickly as they happen. And if you're still concerned about it, it doesnt hurt to go to a doc. Just for your peace of mind. If they tell you its nothing to be concerned about, then at least you know everything is ok.
Every child is different, but by 4 my son hardly ever had a day sleep. Slept from 7.30-8pm to around 7am ish. I know some kids still have a day sleep at that age but that sounds like it's too much to me. I would be taking her to the dr for a check up. Lots of things can cause fatigue. Good luck : )
Sounds like too much to me but who knows all kids are different. The problem will be when its time for them to go to school they'll be exhausted and not used to not been able to take a nap. I cared for a young boy who would sleep a lot during the day they found out he was celiac he was exhausted from the effects of Gluten in his body.
That sounds like a lot. My son is 4 in 3 wks and hasn't had day sleeps for a year. He crashes around 8-9pm and sleeps till 6-7am
some kids just need a lot more sleep than others, go into any daycare and there are some kids having huge sleeps and others have no sleep. I wish I was in the medium sleep bracket :) Have a talk to your GP about it just in case and maybe think about putting off school for a year. I know kids who sleep this much at 4.5 years, just not mine who never slept lol
My 5 yo does this. He sleeps a few hours a day then about 10 hours at night. He just started school though so because he can't sleep during the day he will fall asleep the second I pick him up and put him in the car! We've been to doctors who have done blood tests ect but they always come back normal. The doctors said he just likes his sleep and nothing to worry about. He has been like this his whole life though, so if this is a new thing for your daughter definetly go get her checked out, she could be lacking in iron. Good luck
