I'm at my wits end - my daughter (she will be 4 in July) is fine using our toilet and will take herself off there whenever she needs to go, but ANY other toilet and she screams and carries on like it's trying to hurt her! It is becoming too hard to take her out anywhere as she causes such a scene. She claims that she is scared, but I am drawing a blank as to what could be scaring her...
We have an overseas trip coming up in less than 3 months and I am fearful that the entire trip is going to be a nightmare because of this.
Any advice or tips/tricks would be greatly appreciated!!

You don't say your daughters age? I have a few suggestions I was similar as a child but depends what age she is as to how you can approach it
Ie A 3 yr old can understand a lot more than a just turned 2 yr old

Thanks ok at nearly 4 bribery should help. There's a few things I'd suggest, maybe a prize box full of cheap $2 shop rewards she gets to choose a prize if she uses a not home toilet, that worked wonders with my son we built up the excitement saying how proud we were etc etc praise means a lot at this age. My next suggestion would be buying her special 'toilet wipes' ie baby wipes to clean toilet first as she may be worried about germs and doesn't know how to express that fear
Or else as annoying as it can be what about a portable padded toilet seat she can place on top of toilets. Use it at home to start and show her it's her special magical toilet seat which she can use when out so she has the familiarity to start then gradually wean off it by 'forgetting it'
