Tantrums driving me crazy!

Tantrums driving me crazy!

Advice needed.

I have a 9 yr old son who has started throwing tantrums like a two year old (I mean the full on throw himself on the ground and cry, screaming, yelling "I hate you" etc....).

We have tried grounding, taking things off him, time outs - all the usual ones as well as some more unusual ones like trimming the grass under the fence with nail scissors wiping the skirting boards with wipes and a few others.

I have just sent him to his room for trying to sneak out the front door (without asking) with a second piece of cake (that he had already asked for and been told no).

I should mention that he has mild Aspergers.

Surely this isn't normal is it? Has anyone else dealt with this and how did you deal?

Take him to a behavioural psychologist. It is most likely related to his aspergers. Punishing a kid with aspergers for tantrums is very rarely effective. He needs help to learn to cops with what is setting the behaviour off.
