Hi mummies, I have a 2.5 year old daughter who has major tantrums. It can be over something really small, like a toy not working the way she wants it to. She never stops to try a different way, she just breaks down. We have at least 4-5 tantrums a day. for the last week she has started this new thing of finishing the tantrum by hitting herself on sides of her head with both hands. Sometimes it's like she squeezing her head. Ever since she was a baby, all she did was cry and stiffen up, was never happy no matter what.
I'm on the edge of a breakdown. I hate seeing her like this. I just feel like maybe something more is going on :( but when do you start to think ok maybe this tantrum is something more.
I don't know what to do :( please help me with any kind of advice! Should I be looking into it more or is this normal? I just want to help her :( tia

It could be totally normal. But it's always worth getting her checked by a paediatrician because either it will give you peace of mind if it is normal or you can start to work in it in a more effective way if it isn't. Also if it is something early intervention is very important
Little kids have a lot of trouble processing "big" emotions like frustration, sadness etc. This is developmentally appropriate and will improve with time. Look into Aha Parenting ( or any other positive parenting resources) to help you help her deal with it.
Is her reaction normal? Probably. She might just be more sensitive than other kids, or she could have something else going on; which could be anything from food intolerances (check out Fed Up) to sensory/ASD type things.
If It's bothering you, go see someone.
