Last year my husband was employed by a company, run/owned by friends of ours. The company since stopped trading as they had a lot of issues and in short got in over their heads and ended up with a huge tax debt etc. We recently noticed no super was paid to my husband by them... I'm wondering is there a way the ATO/ super place. whoever looks after this, will notice? Is it likely they will be made to pay? Is it something that will only be looked over if we inform them? I'm not sure I can bring myself to 'dob them in' as I know how much financial pressure they're under from a few misjudgements but at the same time am I better off doing it now than down the track? I just don't know what to do, any advice appreciated!

As hard as it is to "dob someone in" over this, it needs to be done. Your husband is entitled to that money and the employer is obligated to contribute to his super at least quarterly. If you (or he) brought it up with the ATO they would likely chase them for that money.
Dob them in, but it's unlikely you will get the super. They can't make them pay if they don't have the money! A few friends have been through this. Contact Fair Work as your husband won't be the only employee this has happened to.
