My child has just turned 3 and has started stuttering a few months ago. It seems worse when she is tired, and when super tired (for instance over xmas when we were very busy everyday) becomes really bad. Then the next morning, perfect speech. I'm just surprised by the inconsistency. When bad it is very painful to watch and sometimes she just gives up trying. We have an appointment with our paediatrician next week, and im assuming we'll then be off to see a speech therapist? I'm shattered for her. I'd like to hear from people with experience on this issue. thanks

Hi mumma,
No real advice but our son has started with the stutters in the last month or so and he will be three next month. We don't make a deal about it and wait for him to get out what he needs to say. I think (personally, may not be the same for your daughter) that at this age they are learning all these new words and what they mean and understanding adjectives etc and expressing their personalities that they get it muddled up in their mouth whilst they are still working out what they are actually saying. Hopefully you get some help from the paed, whether it's reassurance or a referral :)
