Stray kids

Our area has far too many stray kids. But most of them we know who they are where they belong or have their parents phone numbers.

Yesterday after 12 years of ongoing assessments 10 years of intense reading support 6 years of speech therapy and 3 years of talk therapy, my daughter met her sisters psychiatrist for the first time.

He has obviously been pouring over both their files intensely since he first received her sister as a patient. (Public pediatric psych service known as CAMHS)

These sisters are like chalk and cheese, completely different one withdrawn and quiet the other loud and present like a nuclear blast.

I was Gobsmacked, I think finally someone has figured out what the hurdle is she can never quite get over and so many haven't been able to quite put her finger on. Literacy is a massive challenge. Anxiety. She loses things ALL the time. I'm not joking when I say she would lose her head if it wasn't attached. This kid literally has come home without shoes on her feet because she lost them at school. More than once.

He thinks it is a little perfect storm of

SLD (speech and language delays)
Dyslexia (not the presentation I know about)
ADHD inattentive type
And trauma

She is actually at incredibly high risk of anorexia nervosa so treatment isnt even a remote possibly until her eating habits are more solid or her accidently starving herself to death is a real risk.

We were both really excited because I think we both know he is heading in a direction which fits.

Her confidence instantly skyrocketed that "YES I'm not stupid I'm just better at some things that others and just because reading is ridiculously incredibly exhausting doesnt mean I am stupid, it means I am creative and artistic and visually expressive!"

Anyway she brought a "friend" home from youth with her to stay the night with this nice boost to her confidences she wanted to try to be more social again.

The girl sat in the middle of our living room taking calls all night on speaker at the top of her lungs. It was the second time the girl had stayed and she won't be allowed to a third.

She was a little rude and antisocial the first time she was here but seemed more socially inept. This time around I dont care what her issue is she won't be allowed back. The way she used my daughter just for a bed for the night absolutely crushed her. They were getting organised to drag out some board and card games but hours later everyone was sick of waiting for her to get off her damned phone.

And the LIES she was telling.

Oh she hadn't eaten since such and such day.....besides the huge meal at youth and the dinner we served after they got home!

My kids aren't perfect no one is. BUT this girl is fkn incredible with her lies tales and using people. No idea what of what she is spilling is truth or lies. She was going on about police trying to restrain her and apologising to her mum for the trouble they had. WTF....maybe we need reform schools again because this isnt the only kid in the area who simply doesn't know how to interact with people.

We actually found ourselves hiding the more valuable items in the master bedroom as her honesty level became evident.

She would've been out on the street on her arse before 11 if she didn't live two towns away.

Unfortunately not very child has good parents, who will fight to get them the answers they need :(
It's so sad and yeah the girl shouldn't be invited back, not sure what a reform school would do for a teen who clearly has mental health issues. But that's probably me being too literal
