Hi all
I'm currently 33 weeks pregnant and due to give birth late August. This will be my second baby and we are very excited. My first one was born via c-section due to him being in breech position. Back then I hated the idea of a c- section, however must say that I had a dream recovery and never really regretted that I didn't have a natural birth once I could hold my son in my arms. I also suffered from SPD in my first pregnancy.
There was a high chance that this baby will be breech position as well. So my OB booked in a c-section for 39 weeks gestation. As it turns out the baby has turned head down so I'm all clear to have a VBAC if that's what I want.
Before SPD got really bad I was 100% committed to have a natural birth because it's so much better for the baby. Unfortunately, my pelvis is hurting like crazy making it very difficult for me to walk, stand, or do. Anthony. I'm basically in pain whenever I walk and even panadeine only takes the edge off the pain. I had regular Physio, including wearing a belt and have been doing an exercise program including hydrotherapy. So this is as good as it gets.
Now I don't really see how I can go through hours of labour where I'm supposed to be active and walk around with this type of pain. I'm also worried that natural birth will do further damage to my pelvis and googling this issue brought conflicting advise. Certain birthing positions such as lying on your back are apparently out of question. This means I should not have an epidural. Same goes for stirrups etc. so it only takes one inconsiderate midwife and long term damage could be done. Should I just have another c-section. The pain of SPD basically disappeared immediately and the recovery wasn't that bad with my first c- section.
Have any of you had hands on experience with Vaginal birth and SPD or SPD and c-section. Have any of you who had experienced long term pelvis issues after a vaginal birth and perhaps regretted not having a c-section instead. I should add that I have a private OB so I know who would do the c-section and I have absolute trust in her that she will do another awesome job. Thanks all in advance.

This sounds exactly like what I had with my last pregnancy. Right down to the physio weekly and having to wear the belt. I had a natural birth but the pain i felt in my back was horrendous. I couldnt even lay on it for the heart rate/ contraction monitor.I ended up given birth on my hands and knees. After giving birth the pain disapearred.I am currently pregnant again (due mid August) and the pain this time is no where near as bad. I hope this kinda helps you out mumma. There is no right or wrong choice. Follow your heart and listen to your body.
Hi Anonymous - I think I have already scheduled this question! It will be up later today and the link points to the first time you wrote in :-) Hope it helps! xKelly
