I'm breast feeding my 14 month old DD, but just recently, and not always, my left breast when she sucks is in excruciating pain. She's not feeding any different to how she has all this time. The pain is (sharply) shooting up the inside of the breast. Has anyone had this before?? It's not mastitis as there are no lumps. but it's so painful, i have to take her off! any ideas?? Thanks

I had that similar with my 18 month occasionally and realised it was from sleeping on my belly at night and putting pressure on my breasts, causing blocked ducts from my milk trying to come in while I was lying on them, very painful and very similar to mastitis feeling, was always one as well! obviously was the opposite one i fed her before going to bed took me awhile to figure it out as I'm not much a tummy sleeper but did it not knowing , maybe take note :)
Not sure if it's the same thing but when I was breastfeeding I had a sharp pain shoot up the inside of my breast when she would start to feed (started when she was 6 weeks old) & it turned out to be ductal thrush. Long story of how I got it & how I fixed it but basically doctors just shrugged it off. Google 'breast ductal thrush' to see if you match up with the symptoms & how to go about it. Or message if you'd like more info on my story with it x
