I have a dilemma and im not sure if i am being overly cautious or if i am in the right.
My godmother has offered to look after my babies once a week for the day while I attend a course. Now my issue is that she smokes inside the house. She smokes around her own grandbabies which her daughter doesnt seem to care about but i dont know how to bring it up?
I am greatful for the offer of help and i know she loves my kids, but is it offensive to ask that she smoke outside while they are there?
I am thinking i should just put them into daycare for the day. I dont know what to do??

I wouldn't want someone smoking around my kids either and everyone I know that smokes doesn't near there kids or inside. Your godmother sounds like she is of a different generation where people didn't think about smoking as doing harm to kids.
I think she probably would think you are making a mountain out of a molehill and be offended and not take your request seriously. Plus if she did take it seriously she would then need to be leaving the kids unsupervised so she can go outside to smoke. For peace of mind for yourself just use daycare.
My Mum smokes and when I visit i ask her to smoke outside. If she didn't like it I wouldn't visit we are here to protect our children so go with your gut feeling. I'm sure if you expressed your feelings and she loved and respected your wishes she would smoke outside :)
