Could anyone help out with a rough idea on how much you get on a single parent pension? Is it means tested? I currently earn approx $450 a week from work. I live in NSW and I have one son who is 20 months old if this has any influence?
My partner has just told me he is leaving us though will continue to help pay bills until I have everything sorted. So pretty much I need to find out how much I will be eligible for so that I know if I can afford to stay in our current house. If I go into centrelink will they be able to tell me this info or do I need to wait until my partner completely cuts us off before they will do anything? Sorry I know there are lots of questions in here but I'm freaking out not knowing how I am going to support my son.

do it now, you can lodge online now I believe.
You will probably get a part payment and based on what you've said which would go on how much you reported you earnt that fortnight. You should also get rent assistance if you are not listed as owning a home. Don't go in to centrelink unless they specifically tell you to as they will usually just refer you to their online services or phone services which you can do at home lol Also I think there is an online calculator on the website so you can work out how much your payment will be.
Also while your ex is being very nice now, you will still need to claim Child Support through the CSA in order to not have your centrelink payments reduced.
The best thing to do is ring centrelink. It's means tested but based on that amount you would still be eligible for some of the pension and also family tax benefit. You will also need to apply for child support so you can get the maximum amount of tax benefit payable to you. If you and your partner can work out a private child support arrangement then you will still need to tell child support this I think.
