School lunches on low budget?

Please no judgement here as I'm feeling really bad.
This week I'm really struggling for money, I don't get paid again till next Week and have three children to provide for. We have meals to get by just but That's only for dinner though like potatos, sausages, a little bit of pumpkin, foods like pastas, spaghetti, and plenty of cereals for breakfast , my question is though I can't afford school foods & with no money I can't go buy anything . Today I packed just a sandwich, packet of chips, one biscuit and one piece of fruit. I'm feeling terrible that they will still be hungry but I don't have anything else to pack. When on a low budget what do you pack for your kids school lunches?

That's a great lunch if your worried pack 2 sandwiches? Bread is cheap and filling, 1 for each break with different fillings?

If you go see lifeline or Salvation Army, anglicare any of those government agencies they will assist you with a food voucher to help ease the stress but what you are packing would be the same as what my kids are having too.

They won't starve hun and trust me there are plenty of kids who don't eat there lunches and they tend to share and steal each others left overs etc. If you are still worried approach the school and be honest with your struggles, don't be ashamed, they will surely be able to help.

Depending on how old ur kids are depends on how much is enough. My daughter is 7 this morning she went to school with cuecumber and carrot sticks, banana, pack of tiny teddies and a sandwich. We own a business and when our staff are struggling and need alittle extra cash they as for some holiday pay to be paid out. Could you maybe ask your employer for this if you have any??

That's a great lunch!! Nothing to feel upset about. Most kids are hungry when they finish school, more of the same sounds healthy and cost effective.

Don't feel bad - that's plenty for lunch! I never waste money on pre packaged lunch stuff - get baking!! I make ahead and freeze things like cupcakes, slices, piklettes, pizza pinwheels, biscuits etc. when you make these things from scratch they cost hardly anything compared to premade & better for your health too (for eg, Aldi SR flour is like 80cents). Go online & look for basic recipes to stock up your freezer - this helps us out heaps when budgets are low.

Thanks ladies for all your comments, makes me feel so much better knowing that most kids are getting the same amount of food, today I feel better and I packed things that I had to use up so I made two egg & lettuce sandwiches each , cut up cheese, Kabana & jatz , carrot sticks & a apple.

Thanks ladies for your comments, makes me feel better knowing that a lot of kids are getting the same amount as food for school lunch as mine. My kids ages are 6yrs, 8yrs & 10. The 6yr old is smaller comparison to other six year olds as he was born premmy at 33weeks pregnant., due to me having high blood pressure & pre eclampsia .
Today I feel happier with what I packed. I had things to use up so I made two egg & lettuce sandwiches each, cut up cheese, Kabana & jatz , Apple & carrot sticks

Thats exactly what we use to get. Your doing great! If you have some flour and an egg you could make picklets they are cheap to make.

great cheap things for lunch boxes are popcorn (not the microwave stuff) theres more than a weeks worth in a $3 bag. Carrot sticks. Anzac biscuits. Slices are easy to make and will last all week. I have heaps of very easy and cheap recipes if your interested.

Most of all dont stress, your doing fine kids are tough x
