Salicylate Intolerance

Salicylate Intolerance

Hi IMs

I'm just wondering if any of you out there have dealt with a salicylate intolerance either for yourself or your child?

We're starting to think our child has an intolerance to them as they've had stomach pains, reflux and been a terrible sleeper since they were born and the symptoms are unpredictable. The stomach pains really flared up when they started on solids as a baby and thinking back now, I'm concerned I see some connections.

They are also lactose, gluten and soy intolerant (or perhaps it's always been salicylates?!).

I just looked up the list of foods high in salicylates and it's so daunting, there's so much they won't be able to eat if they do in fact have all the above intolerances!

And advice or encouragement would be appreciated! TIA :)

P.S please know we are speaking with our GP about this, just after others experiences!

Thanks, I'm already seeking advice and am somewhat qualified in the area myself. It's just very overwhelming when you're going through it yourself, so just seeking others who have dealt with this particular intolerance :)

From 4 weeks old I knew something was wrong with my DS, cut out dairy, soy gluten etc etc and it didn't get better.. No normal GP's help with this cause they are clueless.. you will need to get a referal to a Pead specialising in food intolerances and allergies, you may need to do some research for one around you. Here is a link to the RPA elimination diet handbook which labels all whole food and what 'protein' they contain, I would be lost without it. My DS ended up being gluten, amines, msgs and quite a few spin off chemicals intolerant. It has been a massive eye opener I really hope this helps xx http://www.sswahs.nsw.gov.au/rpa/allergy/resources/foodintol/handbook.html
