No judgement please. I recently found out I was pregnant and I was wondering how other mums to be quit smoking. I'm finding it very difficult. I obviously want to stop ASAP. Any constructive advice is greatly appreciated.

I hear you. My partner and I both went cold turkey when we found out and he kept reminding me that there was a reason to stop- a growing baby who required the best possible health lot start in life. This was enough to stop my selfish ways and give the best possible start in life to my child. Try patches- this is better then smoking. Goodluck

Start cutting down and only smoking half a cigarette at a time. Aim to get to 4-6 half cigarettes a day (3 full ones total) in a week or two. It is so much easier to quit completely from this level and an easier transition for your body. When u try to quit completely do it in the mid afternoon so u only have the rest of that day to get through and then sleep. The next morning u will have got through the worst and will be ok from there. Do some deep breathing when u have a craving and it will pass in a few minutes. Good luck it's hard I know : )

I had my Dr and OB tell me to quit cold turkey if it wasn't too difficult. But if withdrawal cause me physical or emotional stress, to instead quit by weaning myself off cigarettes. They said that was overall safer for pregnancy. Also to use Nicotine Replacement Therapy, but to use gum or lozenges and not patches. All the best. Try not to stress about it, cause the more you stress, the more difficult it is. Which is not a good thing during pregnancy. Wean, wean and stop and use NRT if needed. xo
