Hello. Ftm at 31+2. Currently in Melbourne Royal Womens as my hospital could not look after me and bubs until 32 weeks.
Yesterday at my baby shower everything was going fine until everyone left. I had a leak (urine, tmi) and contractions every half hour. My local hospital tested me and it came back with a very high positive for preterm labour within 7-10 days (they think 7 or less) and had to be rushed here via ambulance. I am still having irregular contractions which are currently being eased and slowed down by pandine fort and a tiny red tablet. I am due for my second shot of steroids tonight.
Bubs heart beat has been resting at 105 but varies from 80+ to 160+
Most bad contractions have been in my pelvis and my lower back.
I was wondering if anyone else has had similar and if it eased and you laboured later on or if bubs came early/was bought on early?
I'm currently here by myself as my partner is unable to stay and I am very nervous and confused.

Big hugs!!! My situation was a bit different but I had twins at your gestation. They were 2 and 3 pounds (twins are usually a bit smaller than singletons) it's absolutely fantastic you have been given the steroid injections! They will make all the difference. My twins spent about 40 days in hospital but I know many people who have gone home much sooner. So to realistically prepare yourself the doctors tell you to expect baby to be in hospital until your due date. At that gestation most babies are considered 'feed and grow' basically they haven't gotten to the gestation where they get chubby yet, so he or she will have a Nasal gastric tube to help them feed and will be in a isolet to keep warm for a while. Baby may need some breathing assistance when born. The royal women's is great! There are a few facebook groups I'd suggest joining as you will get a lot of support. Lil Aussie prems, families with premmie babies, premature babies group Australia, miracle babies. Best wishes xxxx
Big hugs, it's a waiting game at this point. They will monitor you and bubs closely. They try and get you to hold on as long as possible but sometimes there comes a time where it's safer for either mum or bubs for baby to be delivered early, or your body just won't be delayed any longer. So unfortunately it's a frustrating scary time because there is no clear answers on when you will deliver. I know it's futile saying this, but try and relax, your in a safe place and being looked after.
