Hi there,
My Husband & I had been trying to concieve for 12 months.
I gave up and started applying for work.
With some luck, I got myself a job.
Everyone said, you'll end up getting a job and fall pregnant.
I had hoped this actually wouldn't happen. Even though I desperatly wanted a baby, I changed goals.
1.5 wks into work & I found out I was actually 5 wks pregnant!
I was in totally shock & disbelieve, we actually created a baby!
We are both so thrilled, but my question is.
To tell my employer or not?
Can they sake me for being pregnant?
I didn't even think I could concieve!
I'm at a lose, I want to tell them because I believe there can be some stresses to the work load given, but I don't want to be let go within my probation period.

It's best to own up, come out straight with it. It can be really hard to hide a pregnancy depending on what symptoms you get. I had morning sickness that made me unwell up until noon. Your boss most likely will see you in a good light for telling them and if your boss does the wrong thing it's not somewhere where you would want to work anyway while pregnant or having a baby as they are not likely to be ok with you going to drs appointments etc.
Congratulations! Amazing news. I would be upfront and tell them. Like the previous commenter said, sometimes these things can't be hidden for very long, especially if there are symptoms such as morning sickness.
Make it clear that you were fairly sure you were unable to conceive and that you had no clue that you were pregnant when you accepted the position. If they choose to let you go (it's not an acceptable reason to sack someone, but it has happened!) then I suspect they were likely to make your life hard in your pregnancy, probation or not.
This happened to me.
We had bought a house in another area, and decided to work closer to the new house.
I didn't know I was pregnant and got a job that was cruisy.
I was getting annoyed that simple things weren't sinking in, then I started getting sick.
My boss hit me up and asked me if I was sick as she thought my resume didn't equate to me.
But by then I was 15 weeks, I told her and she was more relieved that I was just pregnant and not lying on my resume.
I worked till 38 weeks, they did need to know as they were much more understanding with my vacantness.
They gave me 6 months maternity and within that I ended up pregnant again. Lol
Congratulations and good luck!!!
