Hello fellow IM's! I have a situation with my step-daughter. She is 11 and has become very irate with headaches, chills etc. she is snapping at her mother and brothers and sisters and will just break down crying at nothing. Her mother, myself and my partner (her dad) have had a talk and we think she may be close to getting her period. I guess my question is... Is there ANYTHING we can do to help her through this time. I'm sure we can all understand it can be frustrating. She knows about periods and everything but we just don't know what to do! Thanks in advance from 3 very stressed out parents :)

Poor darling. Take her to the GP first - it sounds like it could be hormones going bonkers but rule out other causes of the headaches and other physical symptoms.
Perhaps look into a Bach Flower or similar remedy for her?
No advice sorry - just want to compliment you on your wonderful co-parenting. You should all be very proud of yourselves xx
awe, I don't have a daughter but I remember my mum was really sympathetic to me. She made sure I got time alone when I needed it without my younger sisters driving me nuts. Provided paracetamol when needed etc. Not really much you can do except ride the waves :( and yeah awesome work parents
My 11 year old stepdaughter is also very emotional and very close to get her period (very well developed and often has brown discharge) not much you can do just give her Space when she needs it, be their for her when she needs that. I know I'm in my 40's and still get very emotional and bitchy around that time.
