Has anyone used a sleep specialist in Perth for their toddler? If so, who did you use, what were your experiences and what sort of $$ do they charge? We are trying to get our 2.5 year old to go to sleep without us in the room but he just screams the house down or gets up, it's getting very frustrating.

Could you clarify if your looking for someone who does sleep training or a medical practitioner who is an expert in sleep disorders?
My experience of using a sleep specialist (medical specialist) was they look for medical reasons why a child might not be sleeping. It usually involves a sleep study, where the child sleeps in the hospital overnight with wires attached to the head. They look for things like silent reflux, epilepsy, sleep apnoea etc.
Have you read the book 'The No Cry Sleep Solution' by Elizabeth Pantley?
He's telling you something: listen. He's not ready to go to sleep without you. This is completely normal. Many kids need parental involvement to help them relax enough to go to sleep through toddlerhood and even at school age. There's nothing "wrong" with him, he just wants to be close to you. Is it causing a massive problem in your family or do you feel he "should" be able to do it by himself?
