Party Planner would you hire one

So, I am about to start my Diploma in Event Planning and Wedding Planning in the next few weeks. Which is what I have always wanted to do - I am super excited! My hesitation at the moment though is I am not sure if there will demand for it. :(
I am sure with heaps of advertising I may get clients, But I know and understand how tight everyone's budget and cash flow at this current point in time.
Anyone else a planner? It's it hard at the moment.?
If your not a planner - would you consider hiring someone to plan your events? Birthday's, Baby Showers, Bridal Showers, Wedding???

Hi, i studied a dip event management and i can advise you based on my experience. I had the same aspirations as you as well. I found the dip ev man useless, anyone with half a brain quit halfway through and went to uni or began work. I would definitely advise either of those two options. Nothing beats work experience - you could get into events in a big venue and really gain a world of experience, learning the ins and outs, running events start to finish and most importantly making contacts and getting to know people in the industry, how they work, having people you would trust, recommend, and how their work is, and getting mates rates. You also get to build a portfolio and get known by clients who are your target market, people who book planned events and know your work.

Otherwise i'd suggest uni, i found while looking for work people respond just as well to 'studying'. It still shows an interest. Also in the industry i found that the people with the jobs i wanted had uni degrees. Tafe diploma got me into hospitality work/ events but nothing i coukdnt get without it either.
So i havent really answered your question but i read it and couldnt not put in my thoughts on it.
