I'm a working mum with 2 toddlers.
I've been at my part time job for nearly 3 months.
Although I'm working for a national chain I'm finding the work environment very casual, to the point of being a little rude to uncouth.
I have a great working relationship with a fellow male co worker who recently purchased a new car. In jest I told him it was a girls car which he retaliated with a witty come back and was not offended.
What also happened was a female co worker heard my comment from the next room and yelled at me, you're a fucking bitch.
Of course I was taken aback, told her I didn't appreciate her remark and she replied, it was just a joke. She then went on about how much better his car was than mine and for the rest of my shift told me how much better my predecessor did my job.
I'm not a prude, I've had heaps of jobs, corporate and casual but find this particular co worker, immature, insecure and out of line.
The boss overheard and asked was everything ok and I said I thought her comment was innappropriate which is what she heard me say.
Is this normal or am I taking this too personally.
I don't think calling anyone a fucking bitch can ever be considered a joke.
Not really a mum question but I need some clarity
