Our Daughter (12) has just been diagnosed as having ASD. We're a bit lost, had always put her "quirky" behaviours down to just being her (one of twins). We need to know some good books or places to go so we can learn how to deal with her "melt downs" and "quirks". I find I don't have much patience although I hear myself saying in my head "She can't help it don't loose it" but I usually do especially when I try to tell her to listen and she won't. To be honest at times I see so much of myself in her it's scary !!! We're in Brisbane so any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. She's noticed she's different to other kids and they have noticed too and like to pick on her to see how quickly she looses her temper. We've read the book "All Cats have Aspergers" but wanting something directed at parents. TIA

For me the best place to start was looking at both Tony Attwood and Sue Larkey websites.

Find a great O.T! The one we see has worked wonders :-)
