My boy had awesome projectile vomiting from birth (I was over feeding oops). It's worth an appointment with your GP for peace of mind. As long as baby is gaining weight appropriately and isn't in pain they don't seem to worry.
My daughter vomited from the day she was born, she didn't gain any weight and I was told my milk wasn't good enough. Try keeping bub in an upright position after feeding for at least 45 mins and put them to sleep on an angle still flat on their back but raise the head of their bassinette or cot. My daighter slept in a rocker/bouncinette, I ended up moving on to an Anti Reflux Formula when she was 8 weeks old due to lack of weight gain and advice from the doctor which over rode the advice from my health nurse.
Both of mine were happy chuckers from birth until 6 months. It didn't bother them was just annoying really. They would chuck 50 times a day. The puddle on the floor is misleading. Spill 5mls of water and it looks huge! Anyway as long as it doesn't hurt them and they are gaining weight just ride it out. No point going onto thickener or gaviscon or prescription meds unless they actually need to.
My daughter vomited constantly - she had a loose stomach valve so the contents of her stomach easily came up again. Sometimes in extreme cases they do surgery to close the valve but we opted to wait til it got stronger at closing as she got older. This continued until she was 2-3 with gradual improvement over time. However she was also milk protein intollerant and switching to a soy milk formula really helped reduce the amount of vomiting. She is still milk intollerant although doesn't vomit now, just gets tummy pain (5 now). Breast is not always best for milk intollerant babies! The paediatric specialist did a faecies test to diagnose the intolerance. It is not the same as lactos intolerance so lactos free milk products don't help, all milk has to be avoided in our case.
I don't want to scare you because this is most likely not the case. Just putting my experience out there just in case. My sister projectile vomited since she was born. She wasn't keeping any fluids down & wasn't gaining weight. My parents took her to the hospital repeatedly for six weeks straight & they just kept sending her home telling them my sister just had a virus & would be fine. One doctor finally listened & turns out my sister had a life threatening tumour that if it hadn't been removed when it was, would have killed her. She is now a healthy almost 14 year old. We almost lost her. An abnormal amount of vomiting is not healthy. I would see your doctor to be safe.
