My three year old daughter just humiliated me at the shopping centre by swearing! And in front of one of the school mums, no less! I told her to sit down properly in the trolley and she looked at me and said the "effing hell". I walked quickly away and then stopped to discuss with my daughter why it was so unacceptable.
But I am so embarrassed and can't stop thinking about it! I have older children who each had their moments when they were this age of saying some naughty words. I dealt with it by either ignoring or being very strict with them. They are now much older and certainly have never continued to use bad language, so I plan on doing the same with my daughter. I just feel like a terrible mother at the moment! I very rarely swear myself, but other family members do.
So from one Imperfect Mum to other Imperfect Mum's, cheer me up and tell me your stories if you have had similar experiences? It will make me feel much better if I know I'm not along in this humiliation.

my sons third word was BUGGER
my nephew's favourite word was f@ck we used to say "yes ducks say quack" to get it past his other grandparents lol
My niece told her mum to F*off. My BIL thought it would be funny to teach my 4 yr old the word shit. It happens I just say to them that's not a nice word to say.
It happens to everyone.
I wouldn't worry about it - just tell your kid it's not a word they should use, it's better to say "flipping" etc.
If the other parent you were with judges you on a 3yr old insignificant echolalia then I wouldn't consider them a friend.
