I was hoping for some feedback from other im's- I had a 3a vaginal tear following my first born ( who was a big 4kg boy!). I healed with no problems and am now pregnant again with our second child. I have had some medical staff suggest I should consider a caesarean this time which I don't want to do. I wanted to hear other experiences of subsequent vaginal births following a tear- did you tear again? Better or worse than the first?
Many thanks:)

With my first I had to have an episiotomy and I tore aswel (almost from vagina to anus). It took awhile to heal properly and I was scared to do a poo thinking I might tear completely so I was on this poo softner stuff. I only had a small bub too 6lb2oZ but she was posterior so I thjnk that was the cause.
Fast forward now I'm pregnant with my 4th, my 2nd and 3rd births went quite well, only a few stitches, nothing like my first, no tearing, no cutting etc. still small babies tho 6lb10oz and 5lb15oz.
I'm not sure if this helps cuz I don't know exactly what a 3a tear is. But generally the midwifes are very helpful and will like a vaginal delivery over a c-section so if it's them suggesting a c-section then possibly listen to them.
Big tear first time, and episiotomy, big baby 4.5 kgs too. natural beautiful birth second time and yes a little tear which I didn't notice at all but had a stitch. Definitely not something to get a cs for!!!
I had an episotomy for my first, he was a forceps birth, only 6lb but had been in hard labour for 22 hrs and could not push anymore! Plenty of stiches inside and out. My 2nd was 9lb and I had a small tear with her, with a few stiches but nothing like my first. Recovery with no.2 was pretty easy 3rd and 4th were both 9lb-ers, natural births and only a graze with each. Recovery was a blip on the radar :).......you should be fine, discuss it with your midwife and they can help you during labour to stop or minimise tearing. All the best :)
I had a Third almost fourth degree tear first time and got pregnant 18months later. I was soo nervous and was suggested by midwives to consider c section but Dr tried to push for natural which is what I preferred. It was amazing! Second degree tear but that was nothing in comparison to what I went through the first time.
