My 6 month old getting enough?

My 6 month old getting enough?

* Can you please post a question for me *
Hi Ladies,
Bit of back ground i have a 6 mth old spunky monkey little man, he has been bottle fed from day 1 & has been eating solid food since he was 10 weeks old. Even when he was just on formula he was never a big eater, was hard to get more than 60mL into him at a time.
He now has 3/4 solid meals a day, maybe 5 bottles 120-180mLs depending on how hes feeling. He is crawling, sitting up, getting into everything hes always been an extremely active little boy always non stop, he had his needles the other day, he was weighed & his weight was 7.5kgs, at 4 mths he was 6.6kgs so in 2 mths he put on 900g.
My question is, is his weight normal for a 6 month old? He is so smart, & active, I'm just worried that hes so small.
TY in advance.

He sounds fine. I also went through something similar my boy didnt eat properly for ages...he still doesnt i would go to the doctors all the time because i was so worried. But its true if they are happy and doing all the things they should i would try not to worry. I know its hard im still going through it lol xx

My little man is also 6 months he's not due for his needles yet but weighted in at nearly 9 kilo at 4 months. I know of 8/9 month old babies just hitting that weight. Every babies different. My son, for his height and size is normal weight but very very tall for his age. Did the nurse say that he was underweight?
I should also tell you that my son has around 6-7 bottles a day varying 200 give or take and has only just started solids which is just gone up to 3 meals with only a couple of spoonfuls of purees at a time.
If your worried I'd suggest see a nurse to put your mind at ease.

My Dr has said he's fine but i have an appt with a child health nurse on the 20th just to put my mind at ease. My son will eat 1 full sachet at Breakfast & lunch & at dinner 1 & 1/2 Sachets, he is so active tho. & there is a history of small babies in the family. I think I'm worrying for nothing...

I worried for a bit to, apparantely for nothing.... As long as there is some weight gain it's ok. Our baby girl was only eating a couple of spoonfuls at dinner time and maybe a rice rusk during the day, more of a boobie baby. The child health nurse is not worried so that helped ease my concerns. She is very active and healthy:-)

Our baby is 10 months old now. Breastfed and eating a small amount of solids.

At 6 months she weighed 6.5 kgs, 8months 7kgs and 10months 7.5kgs. No one is worried about her at all.

I don't think you have anything to worry about:-) all babies are different shapes and sizes, my babies are petite, maybe yours are too:-)

Hi Jenna,
I just checked my sons health centre book (as he is now 2 1/2) and his weight was 10.660kgs and 75cms long at 6mths. He has always been bigger then the rest (and still is)but I think comes down to if he has had a huge spike in weight gain! If he is cruising along the same path on his growth/weight gain chart there is no problem. Every child/baby develops so differently so really there is no normal the charts are just a guide.

Sounds fine to me!! My son was only 7.5kg at 6mo they are all different. As long as your son is reaching milestones you have nothing to worry about :)

my 8 month old was 8 pounds at birth but is now only 7.6kgs and I'm told that's perfectly fine, just long and slim and she's not even crawling yet. I wouldn't worry at all.

I had to get out my MH books for the kids to remember. My two are now 4yrs (boy) 2yrs (girl). My son was born 6lb 15 or 3.1kg and at 6 months was 7.7kg. My daughter was born 8lb 6 or 3.8kg and at 6 months was 7.5kg. My daughter & son have pretty much ended up the same weights & heights if you compare their two year old stats. Each kid is diff. If your child is happy, sleeping, wanting to play & explore, having dirty and wet nappies, I wouldn't worry too much.

Check out the world health organisation growth chart. It has helped me a lot as they have weight for age & weight for length. If your baby is happy & meeting milestones I wouldn't worry to much but a second opinion can't hurt if it really is bothering you

That is average for that age as my baby was 4.315kg born and 55cm long he is now 3 months old and is the size of an average 6 month old as he weighs 7.6kg and 66cm long which says is the average of a 6 month old and your doctor or nurse would have said something to you if they were worried

My son at 6 months was only 7.1 kg and 66 cm. He's perfectly healthy active and has met all his milestones around average times or before. He's now 2 1/2 and is only 11.5 kgs and still in size 1 clothes. Some bubbies are just small. As long as he's happy and healthy and meeting all the milestones he should be ( sounds like he is ) its all good. Congrats on doing a great job with him. :)

The WHO weight for age charts for boys is what you'd check. For 6 months the normal weight range is 6.5 - 9.7kgs. My very small 10 month old baby girl is not even 6.5 yet. Your baby boy sounds perfect.
