Money driving me crazy!

Hi fellow imperfect people.
I have a question/rant... I feel that nothing is going right at the moment and to top it all off we are struggling with money. I just don't know how to get ahead, moving to a cheaper house or town isn't an option, I've tried to cut back on spending on random stuff like haircuts for example, I cut the kids hair and I haven't had a haircut in over 12 months. When we shop I try to only buy no name items and we survive on the cheapest meat possible. We only buy clothes when absolutely necessary. I try to always pay with cash and put the change away. I am about to try meal planning to save money there. I normally only eat once a day but the children always have 3 meals and snacks. I have a loan and credit card (unfortunately) and have a pretty good interest rate. I try to put money on the bills each week so there isn't a huge bill when they come in.
I can't see where I'm going wrong so I thought someone else might be able to see it. And if anyone has any tips on saving I would be forever grateful. Thanks so much for your time :)

Sometimes it's just that there isn't enough coming in to save, despite your best efforts. It sounds like you're doing all the right things and doing an amazing job. Is there a possibility of more shifts/work?

I agree, sometimes it is what it is and unless working more is an option that is life. I have had to accept I will never have savings beyond a thousand dollars for any length of time. It's just life for some people. Things I do, do though, is grow as much food as I can. We east vegetarian at least one day a week. I don't have any loans or credit cards though as they are expensive no matter how good your interest rate. I have a really cheap running car (an old ford laser that cost me 1500, 4 years ago). I learnt how to service that car myself so only need to get it checked or fixed if its something major. But really the way I survived is the cheapest housing I could get. Lived in a one bedroom unit for years. My son in the bedroom, me on the sofa bed.

Hey! So... I use to be poor, like super poor and I like to think of myself as some sort of money saving queen lol... A few tips that have helped me through the last few years are buying all house cleaning products, haircare products, toiletries ect at the reject shop! It is soooo much cheaper, meal plan (which is fantastic by the way) around the catalog specials! But meat in bulk and separate... It brings down the weekly shopping bill allot because you will be amazed how much you have left over. Make food that is good for a few meals, such as pasta's, soups, salads (thing you can just add chicken or tuna?) And that way you know lunches are sorted for the following day/s! Hubby and I give ourselves $50 a week, I usually spend mine on topping up my myki or coffee! If any is left over then the next week just take out whatever you need to add up to $50..some weeks you will find you don't need to take any as you have 'everything' you need! I have heaps of tips, so if you want to contact me let me know on here and we but this out! X you can do it!
