So, i've been trying to do Low Carb High Fat and some Paleo for the last year. I've read all the amazing stories of people who have lost so much weight with it, effortlessly. But me, I'm 2 kilos heavier than when I started! :(
So, i'm going back to traditional ways of eating, and exercise at the gym with a PT.Finding it so hard go back!
Has anyone successfully switched back to traditional after trying LCHF/Paleo? Is it a FAD do you think??

They are absolutely a fad! Everything in moderation, and you'll be right
Do you know what paleo is? Pretty sure not eating anything from a packet isn't a "fad".
Original poster here: I found it very hard to sustain. Quite limiting and I kept falling off the wagon.
If it isn't sustainable long term it's unlikely to be successful!
Still the best way to loose weight is to maintain a calorie deficit and make sure you eat your veggies (which I'm bad at lol).
Those diets really just set you up with a disordered attitude to food and make you crave the 'bad foods'. It took my a long time to get it, but this year my brain sea to be making the leap. I've realised that loosing weight slowly is going to get me the best results because i don't feel deprived, it's routine and not a punishment.
Yes it's partly a fad but it also works really well for some people. Why don't you look at adapting the things you liked about Paleo in the first place and combine them with other things so that it's not so restrictive? There is also something called Primal which is less restrictive. They go with an 80%/20% ratio so as long as you eat paleo 80% of the time you're doing good. They also don't cut out dairy.
For example if you struggled having a paleo breakfast due to time constraints, you could have a traditional sort of breakfast, then aim to have paleo meals for the rest of the day.
But really, you need to look at all the different options out there and choose the bits that work for you and combine them all to make your own diet. When people start identifying with a particular type of diet, most of the time they will inevitably fall off the wagon because they "cheat" or it's too restrictive or they have emotional issues that are letting them down. So pick the bits that work for you and combine them. Make it your own so there is no cheating, or falling off the wagon, because you're the master of your own diet.
Then to put it down to basics, if you're not losing weight, increase the amount of exercise you're doing, if that doesn't work, cut down the amount of food you're eating a little (e.g. cut portion sizes down), repeat.
Paleo is not a fad and personally I think everyone should be doing it
