Long lasting early labour

Long lasting early labour

Hi all :) I went to te hospital last week to be told I'm dilated 1cm but yet to be in active labour. I keep having spurts of contractions that get real painful and intense then fizzle to nothing and just this constant back pain. They told me to wait till it happens in full swing or waters break. I'm 34 weeks with history of premmie births. Has anyone else been in this almost labour stage and for how long has it lasted before it either happens or not but this middle of both is driving me insane :(

Go back n tell them to help, I would think ur too early to deliver therefore they should be trying to stop the labor. I'd go back n get a different Dr n explain it all. I'd refuse to leave, if ur in pre labor chances are it ain't stop by itself.

I was 33 weeks with my son and went into full labour contractions 2 mins apart. I was not dilated and my waters didn't break my dr admitted me to hospital I was given medication to stop the contractions. After that I lasted up to 39 wks when baby was born via section

Having had a premmie I would definitely suggest going back! Trust your instincts. Yes baby should be fine even if born now but honestly anything before 36 weeks and you're baby will need assistance to feed and possibly to breathe which means you being discharged without bub and he/she staying in :-( ultimately you want to take bub home with you. Be stern and tell them you want to do everything possible to get this bubba to "full term". Good luck!

Yep I was dilated and in prelabour as you described for a month. Then was given a stretch and sweep which I don't think helped at 39+1 3 days later I exhausted myself going up and down our stairs, 9hrs after that the main event well and truly started!
So you might have ages to go or it might happen tomorrow, every labour is different! Ultimately my advice to you is to follow your mothers intuition...
