Just wanting others experience (and results afterwards) with taking the birth control pill, Levlen Ed.
I've been on it for about a year now and have been so extremely tired every.single.day!
I have trouble waking up each day and no motivation to do anything. By 8am I am nearly falling asleep on the couch :(
I've also lost interest in everything! I use to have so much motivation to get out of the house and try to avoid leaving at any point!
Also I get depression in waves. It comes and then it goes.
This isn't the way it should be for a young mum of an extremely good little boy :( I have no motivation to even go outside cause I am so damn tired all the time and my poor boy suffers because of me :(
Has anyone had similar side effects and returned to normal after going off them? Got their energy and motivation back?

I have been on levlen ed off and on for the last 6 yrs (stopped in between each pregnancy) now we have decided to not have anymore kids we went for a more perminate birth control and I have stopped taking the pill. I can't believe the difference I have lost almost 4 kilos in 3 weeks I just kept putting on weight, also got a lot of acne, my mood swings where also very extrem and this is the main reason I stopped taking it I was either really happy or really depressed i was so all over the place. Don't get me wrong it's a fantastic birth control but crap side effects
I used to get so depressed on hormonal contraceptives. When I stopped taking them I'd feel so much better. I tried a few different pills and they were all about the same for me. I had better success with the Nuva ring as it was a much smaller hormonal release. I think it's time to find yourself a new contraceptive. Good luck
I get nausea on the hi dose of week 2 and get very emotional pms. I also discovered when I went off it to have bub that it completely shuts down my sex drive, I hadn't noticed because I'd been on it for 6years. All of these stoped when I went off it.
The levlen pill made me quiet sick. I was in hospital as it made me consistantly vomit all the time and I became very fatigued. After I went off the pill it took awhile for my period to be normal/consistent again.
Omg u poor luv.. I get exactly the same waves of depression and the tiredness.. Its not overly pleasant..was not happy to hear that about u but at the same time know its not just me :-/ ..... ;-)
Hi i'm 20 ,not a mum, i saw this post and the similar thing is happening to me atm.
I've been on levlen ed for 8 months to regulate my period as it didn't want to stop on it's own and my iron levels drop very low .
I stopped taking them and lost 7kg, i've had abdominal disturbance(unexplained bowl movements,gass,bloting and not strong pain) low sex drive, ingrown hairs and foliculitis on pubic area, now i have depression which is the worst! i do believe that it's because of the pill, i've done some research on hormones and their levels and i found out that; pretty much your body becomes "lazy" to produce hormones on it's own because in the previous period it was receiving them "ready" like when people get used to eating take away food because it's cheaper and saves time,so they stop cooking, i don't know if that makes sense to u.
While i was on the pill i can say that i had not side effects what so ever, i was perfectly fine, i did gain a couple of kilos which was good for me because i was underweight, i had no mood swings=i was just feeling normal.
I wish i never stopped taking them.
Now 5/6 months after i stopped my period has gone crazy again lol. It came in a distance of 15 days and doesn't want to go away AGAIN, i talked to my doctor and she said to do an ultrasound to see if everything's fine and she may give me levlen ed again, i asked her if all these symptoms can be from taking the pill even tho i stopped taking it 5/6 months ago and she said YES!
Too bad no one told me this can happen when i got them prescribed -.-
Now i don't know if i should start levlen ed again and hope it'll help my depression go away or just sit and wait to go it self? -.-"
If u know how to deal with this situation please let me know or what you would've done if u were in a position like this..?
