Hi IMs.
I had my bub earlier this year and lost most of my pregnancy weight. I am about 6kg off my goal weight (60kg), but I can't seem to find the willpower to get there. I was previously very fit, love getting out and about and considered exercise to be a part of life. Now, not only do I not feel like exercising, but I don't have any desire to eat well! I am actually "craving" crap! I know that I need to WANT to lose this last 6kg - and I know how to do it, so my question is: how do I change my frame of mind in order to get fit and healthy again?

I say this all the time but it's true! You need to start small. You didn't get this way over night so don't expect to be back to normal over night either. Change your bad habits slowly into good habits. So if your eating junk food all day say "I'm only going to eat junk food between the hours of 3-7" or I'm only going to get take away twice a week instead of 5 days a week. Start by adding more water and vitamin supplements. If your just eating crap foods you probably aren't getting all the nutrients you need to give you the energy you need to be moving around. Try drinking more coffee? Walk for 10 minutes a day then build up. I honestly was at the point where I would eat KFC or hungry jacks 5 days a week and not moving at all my first goal was to only get take away twice a week and to walk 30 mins each day now you should see me :)
The BEST thing you will ever teach yourself, is that health and fitness has absolutely nothing to do with will power. To achieve your goals you need to eat smaller portions (whether they're healthy or not - still have to be small) and move more. Whether you 'feel' like doing it or not. Do not wait to feel motivated. I NEVER feel motivated. I exercise because my goal is to be more toned. It makes me feel good about myself. I also want to be strong and fit. I want to be able to sprint up a hill pushing my toddler in a pram... even if I hate doing it, haha. Set a number of times a week you want to exercise. Mine is 3-4. Then do it. Rain, hail or shine. Motivated or not. Whether it's a gut-buster or you just barely get it done. Put your runners on and do it. I literally force myself to. And I'm never disappointed after. Be consistent and you'll achieve your goals. If you fall of the wagon (cause we all do occassionally), then move on at your next meal. Don't dwell on it. Just eat better next time. Consistency is the key.
Heck you only just had a baby earlier this year and sounds like you are nearly there :) I didn't end up loosing the last 5 kgs of my baby weight till I stopped breastfeeding all together, then it just fell off... plus another 3kgs. so if your body is like mine and tries to hold on to the fat to feed your baby then that might be the case and you may have to wait it out. You could make small changes to your diet, lower your sugar intake and do some small amounts of something fun that involves moving your body. sounds like you were previously really fit and you may not see a way back to that level of fitness. just start small and work your way up you will get there :)
