Keeping my new house neat and tidy??

Keeping my new house neat and tidy??

Ok ladies, I move house next week and REALLY want to keep it neat and tidy. I have set reminders on my phone at suitable times so I am reminded to do odd jobs, i.e.. wipe the bathroom sinks down. I just feel like there isn't enough time in a day (I work full time) to do everything and then the kids trash it. Any hints??? My hubby doesn't have set days off and they rarely coincide with mine so we can't do what we used to and just block out 2 hours on a saturday morning to do EVERYTHING.

I always wipe the bathroom out while the kids are in the bath, then when I jump in the shower i spray before then wipe, then wash. I put my load of washing on at night after showers.

Minimise what you own and make sure everything has a place! Has helped wonders for us in our small home with 6 people!

I would also (if your kids are old enough) start allocating some chores... help them to feel like they are part of a family and contributing - especially with a new home - good time for new rules!

Good luck! x

I too work Full time, and have 3 kids under 6. I have no hints for you at all lol I have to fit in cleaning as I go :( Occassionly I get a Saturday morning where I can do everything, but we normally make the most of weekends with the kids. Would love to hear some other ideas as well.
I have just recently put reminders in my phone for about 20 mins after I get home, but it is so easy to press Dismiss and chill out with the kids - Might have to set this as a new year resolution..
Good Luck

I once read: don't leave the room empty handed. So each time you leave a room, have a quick glance around, remove anything that belongs somewhere else and put it away, take water bottles back to the kitchen, take the dirty clothes thrown on the floor in the bathroom to the laundry, etc. It really helps and my house is a pretty tidy place! I also have a place for everything, and am teaching my little one to put her things away into allocated baskets and to keep her own space tidy. I do laundry after showers of an evening also, pretty much a load a day (darks or colours or towels) so it doesn't build up for the weekend. But im also very luck to have a cleaner that comes once a week which makes a massive difference.

Spend ten minutes before going to bed doing a tidy up, I have heard of others start training your children young - I'm a fail on this one!! Give each child a laundry basket and at the end of the day they have to collect anything around the house that belongs to them put it in the basket take it to their room and put it away.

Best advice I ever received: storage, storage, storage.
