Judgements

Lately I have started to notice so many negitive judgements against people and one I notice a lot, and applies to this page, is parenting. Everything we do will be judged by others. For so long I tried to please everyone and try to do it their way, but that wasn't my way and all it did was leave me to not enjoy the moments in motherhood.

You go out - "neglecting kids, you should be home with them"
You stay home - "clingy mum alert"
You work - "why are you working, you should spend time with your kids"
You don't work - "lazy stay at home mums"
You send your child to daycare - "how about raising your own child"
You don't send your child to daycare - "why won't you cut the umbilical cord and let the child socialise"
Your house is messy - "clean everything up"
Your house is spotless - "spend time with your kids, let them play"

It used to be it takes a village to raise a child, but that village is gone. The village is quietly judging your every move and waiting for a slip up so they can tell you about it. It is time to dance to the beat of our own drums and don't worry about what others have to say.

Today at my house there is - clothes in the baskets awaiting washing, dishes in the sink, toys on the floor, and what I can only describe as mt Everest of folding. But what else is with in these walls is love, laughter, tears, joy, smiles, hugs, and kissed owwies.

It doesn't matter what you do someone will judge, but what really matters is we don't judge ourselves harshly. They don't live our lives, they don't see our struggles, insecurities, or the love we have for our babies and children. Enjoy your journey through motherhood and do it the way that is best for your family, because one day these memories could get you through a difficult time. You are all doing it your own way, you are all doing it the right way for your family.

And just remember, before you judge someone to harshly, you don't know what demons they could be facing.
