Hi Everyone,
I just want to ask everyone I am 11 weeks pregnant, First time mum and 21 years of age. My stomach and my back have been really itchy, I do not have dry skin and I have been moisturizing, is anyone familiar with this?
I have also been having sharp pains in the front of my stomach that come and go. I have booked an appointment to see my doctor tomorrow just to be safe, I just wanted others opinions as well to see if it was normal during pregnancy?

It sounds like you have puppps. I'd suggest seeing a doctor.
Itchy skin in pregnancy is quite common but can also indicate conditions such as PUPPPS or cholestasis, the latter of which is quite dangerous. Please see your doctor asap and ensure they do all necessary tests to rule out cholestasis. If they brush you off see someone else and ensure it's ruled out.
I'm sure you're fine but best to be on the safe side xxx Update us when you know.
Wow, stop trying to scare this poor mama!
Honey, puppps and cholestasis usually present in the last 3 months of pregnancy and are really quite rare.
Are you drinking enough water? Your body needs loads more water now, and it's possible your skin is dehydrated.
You're also growing and stretching now, which can cause itching and those sharp pain are completely normal, it's just your ligaments and muscles stretching and moving around to accomodate your growing uterus, it's a fantastic sign that everything is well on track!
It's always good to check in with your dr if you're concerned, but seriously, drink some water, rub some moisturiser in and just imagine all the miraculous stuff happening inside you right now xx
Thank you so much for your positive feedback, I have been stressing through the roof about the worst and hearing other say the worst has made me rather concerned. I do live in central Queensland where it is very dry and hot and I do live on a farm which could be irritating my skin but I have booked in to see a doctor tomorrow to be safe :) thank you as you have reassured me that it could all be normal and made my mind at ease of minimising the worst. Xx
I was diagnosed with PUPPPS at 12 weeks. it happens. most go away on there own, or after labour. see a dr. get your blood tested then you will have nothing to worry about
