Is it reflux?

Is it reflux?

I have a 2 month old who has just started vomiting after feeds. Sometimes he will vomit when he is still on the boob. Until the other night it was only a little bit but now he seems to lose the entire feed. For example, about 1/2 an hour ago i fed him then about 5 minutes laters he did 3 vomits. Is this normal? Is it just reflux? He tends to choke at least once every feed as well and sometimes gags after a feed. My first bub didn't vomit at all so this is all new to me. Thanks IM's.

Is he crying at all when he is vomiting? and can u hear the vomit coming up at all before it actually comes up? if so, it could be reflux. Usually a lot of vomiting accompanied by unsettled sleeping and lots of crying is a good indication of a reflux baby. My son had that when he was a newborn and since then he has been on reflux medication and he has been better. He is now 6 months old and most days it is controlled. Also, is the vomit projectile or is just normal vomiting? usually projectile vomiting can also be a sign of reflux. If you haven't tried already, try and keep him upright and pat his back for about 5-10mins after each feed (which can be hard with a 2 month old as they feed often). And and not do tummy time or anything which requires him to strain or move around a lot straight after a feed. As for the choking and gaging. My little boy used to do that to while he was on the breast. And my community nurse told me that sometimes when the flow of your breastmilk is too fast for what they can swallow back, they can choke and gag resulting in them coughing and then vomiting. Worst case, he could be either lactose intolerant or allergic to whatever is in your breastmilk making it unsettling for his tummy.
