We moved last year to a new neighborhood knowing it was only going to be 12 months we would stay at this address. We live on a really long street in a family friendly area in a regional town. My issue is with our neighbours, more specifically their two preteen girls that don't appear to go to school. My kids have met their kids as they're often out on the street with their mobile phones. I hear them during the day - sometimes for weeks at a time. I've not seen them in a school uniform ever so I can't even guess where they might be attending. I know they are not homeschooled as they've told my kids they do go to school..... sometimes... and their mother is not at home alot of the time during the day, so I presume she works. Anyway, I'm stuck as I feel like maybe I should say something, but to who? The mother is unfriendly at best. We are leaving this street soon but I don't want to cause a problem.... I just think these kids should not be left for days on end to their own devices. Helpful comments please?

Call child protective services (whatever is the agency in your state). The authorities are probably well aware of the situation anyway but at least you have tried.
It really is none of your business, I understand how bad you would feel for those kids but it's not up to you to make sure they go to school. Believe me the school that they should be attending would be more than aware that they are not there and they would be informing the correct people. The mum will get fined for not sending her children to school as it is against the law!
