I'm the mum who's "scared of the gym"

Firstly, I'm reading everyone's replies and a huge thank you to everyone! Every single reply so far has been supportive and given me something to think about :)

Secondly, the topic of food has been brought up in a lot of replies, and I'd love to ask some questions about that too if I may
When I was with my partner, we had heaps of junk, kfc, pizza, soda, crappy snack food etc
I was 105kg when he left and took about 6 months to drop down to 70kg
I put it down to stress (worst time of my life, so glad to be past that intital stage), no more takeaway/junk in the house (I simply couldn't afford it even if i wanted it) and we lived a moderate way out of town, with lots and lots of hills, and I couldn't ask him to drive me anywhere anymore
And then I moved much closer to town and the weight has slowly risen back up to 90kg again.
I still don't buy takeaway or junky snacks, I certainly don't snack every night like I did when I was with him, we eat much more fruit and veg because I catered to his tastes when he was here
What I'm not happy about is the amount of carbs we have at dinner, pasta, rice, potato bases because with so many mouths to feed on a limited budget, it fills bellies fast and stretches out the meat/vege side
A typical meal would be pasta (85c) a tin of tuna ($4) white sauce (flour, milk, butter) and some mixed veggies
Or spag Bol, cheap pasta, $3 mince from Coles, $2 sauce
Financially, it works well, but is it hindering? Can anyone suggest healthier meals within the same price range?

Third question, what is boot camp, and how do I find one??

Also as more a ps, my main reasoning in joining a gym/getting fit are about wanting to lose weight, tone up, increase confidence, and hopefully shift my body chemicals a bit to move away from chronic, niggling depression

Thanks again for all the support, means more than you know :)

I avoid pastas with white sauces and go for the tomato bases. Also if I have pasta I go for a much smaller serve and fill up on salad veggies that way I don't have to cook separate meals just make a bit of salad.

Nearly every single reply you received on Facebook is going to make your life so much harder. Portion control is all you need to learn. You don't need to change your recipes. Add veggies to your plate - yes. But change your recipes - no. I've trimmed down to a size 8 (was a size 12 two years ago) after doing Michelle Bridges and what I learnt from her program (and also studying nutrition for 3 years many moons ago) has served me so well. Eat LESS carbs, but only because they have more calories. So if it's a pasta meal you're having, fill you bowl up with veggies first (frozen if that's all you can afford - doesn't matter) then pour a small portion of the pasta dish on top. Don't skimp on fats - they're good for you! Drizzle of olive oil, half an avocado, REAL butter, coconut oil. YOu need a little bit with every meal. It will actually help with your weight loss. Pretty much my rule is - I can eat as much fruit and veg that I want. I eat a couple of pieces of whole grain toast with real butter, sliced banana and a coffee nearly every morning. I could be healthier and eat porridge with greek yoghurt and chia seeds (or whatever!) but who could be bothered.. haha. I find good home cooking, with lots of veg and small portions cannot steer you wrong. Definitely add resistance training to your workouts. Not just cardio. 2 years ago, I couldn't do a single push up on my toes - yesterday I did 30 nose to ground! I'm now working on my 'washboard' tummy. Resistance training has really toned my body up after three kids. It works! Buy yourself a power tube - you can do it from home in any room.. They are BRILLIANT. It's a pilates tool. Rip you up in no time.

Also I eat creamy pasta, cheesy home made pizza, home made schnitzel - whatever! I just eat a tiny bit. Trick is, put your veggies on your plate FIRST, then add your little bit of main. I never crave anything, 'cause I really do eat whatever I want.
